Weld Seam Inspection Technician

About the Job:

Vitronic Machine Vision Ltd. in Louisville, KY is currently seeking a technician for our automated weld seam inspection product. The technician is responsible for various tasks in support of the company, both in-house and on-site (travel). The position includes hands-on work, including but not limited to assembly, installation, testing, programming and troubleshooting of automated, robot-guided weld seam inspection machine vision equipment. Successful candidates will have hands-on mechanical/electrical experience with robotics and automated welding as well as a proficient knowledge of Windows PCs and PC hardware/software. This position is offered at our head office located in Louisville, KY, but will include travel (up to 35%) to job-sites in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up weld seam inspection programs for customers
  • Program our in-house robot for demonstrations
  • Set up, program, troubleshoot, assemble and install weld seam inspection equipment

Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to travel within the United States and Canada (valid passport)
  • Knowledgeable in PC architecture, components, troubleshooting and assembly
  • Knowledgeable in automated welding
  • Experience with hand tools, including torque specifications
  • Electrical knowledge: able to read wiring diagrams, test/troubleshoot electrical wiring
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and time management skills
  • Willing to work in a (sometimes) physically-demanding factory environment
  • Able to learn new tasks quickly and sometimes on-the-job
