In addition to decomposition it is also common when using task analysis to explore how activities fit into a wider context. It can be useful to re - peatedly ask the question “W H Y” in order to assist in this process, with activities becoming increasingly more abstract. For example in a communication aid where an identified activity is to draw the attention of the teacher, the question “why” would lead to the answer “to communicate”, which is sufficiently abstract not to need further elaboration.
