VITRONIC to Grow in the Wiesbaden Region

VITRONIC breaks the 1,000 mark: new colleague welcomed

• Founded in 1984 in Wiesbaden – today an international company
• VITRONIC wants to continue to create jobs in the region

Wiesbaden, June 19, 2018 VITRONIC personnel has grown to 1,000 employees. The company welcomed a new team lead to the production department. This new employee reflects the growth trajectory of a global company that was founded in Wiesbaden and is based here still today.

VITRONIC was founded in 1984 by Dr. Norbert Stein in Wiesbaden, and the family-run company has continued to grow ever since. In 2003 the company employed just under 200 people. In 2008 the number grew to 400 and in 2013 there were 565 "Machine Vision People"—as the employees call themselves—working for the company. At the beginning of 2018, personnel rose to 1,000 worldwide, 800 of which are located in Wiesbaden. Almost half of them, approximately 40 percent, are engineers. In the past five years, personnel grew by over 10 percent each year. And the company is gearing up for continued growth. Since its founding, over 200 young people have completed their training with the company. Moreover, VITRONIC is an extremely international company. The Group employs people from 31 nations.

VITRONIC is a global leader in industrial machine vision and offers systems that are developed in-house for traffic safety and toll enforcement, as well as logistics automation and industrial automation. These systems are used reliably in over 60 countries. Research, development, and production have been housed in Wiesbaden since 1984. VITRONIC invests more than ten percent of its annual revenue in research and in the continued development of hardware and software.

The company is one of the largest industrial sector employers in and around Wiesbaden. Approximately five percent of all those employed in the production industry work here. In 2017, the VITRONIC Group achieved group sales of €170 million, thus generating correspondingly high regional supplier revenue in the Rhine-Main region.

VITRONIC intends to remain on this growth trajectory. CEO Dr. Norbert Stein affirms, "VITRONIC is a true native of Wiesbaden. We were founded here and grew up here. And we want to continue to expand. Because of trends such as digitization and Industry 4.0, we expect lasting growth in the coming years."

The family company, now in its second generation, would like to continue to drive job growth in the region. Daniel Scholz-Stein, Head of Sales, explains, "We can expand our business and also create new jobs in other places, such as France, where we just opened a new subsidiary. This is also our goal for the Wiesbaden region."
