From Smart Logistics to Smart Traffic Solutions

VITRONIC Machine Vision Polska has been recognized for its revolutionary work in creating vision systems that are applied in logistics as well as smart traffic solutions. In the growing e-commerce market, VITRONIC’s solutions automize supply chain processes with high-performance hardware and precision software that identifies packages and even recognizes handwriting.

The technology optimizes existing processes at courier companies such that, within 8 hours, as many as 100,000 packages are read at conveyor speeds of up to 4.5 m/sec. Moreover, it can be implemented without changing the well-oiled processes within the company, reducing investment expenditure. With the new so-called Enforcement Bar, VITRONIC will provide a machine vision solution supporting the electronic toll collection system in Poland, a system under the competence of the National Revenue Administration (KAS).

The Enforcement Bar will apply a technology called LIDAR to recognize license plates and vehicle classification. Upon first sight, the Enforcement Bar is simply a light beam mounted on the railing of a priority car, commonly known in Poland as a "rooster". This beam is equipped with, among others, laser sensors, antennas, a router and a set of cameras that monitor the area around the patrolling vehicle. It delivers data that will support public bodies such as the police or other law enforcement organizations to identify vehicles and their owners faster and more reliably. In 2021, VITRONIC will also provide another 102 road patrol vehicles equipped with similar solutions.
