The success story in the Gulf began in 2008 with the posting of the current Managing Director of VITRONIC Machine Vision Middle East, Youssef El Hansali. In 2009, the branch was founded as a one-man operation in a small apartment in Dubai. "Right from the start, the focus was on the customer and his requirements for traffic monitoring," explains El Hansali. "Above all, this means understanding the culture of the Gulf region and being available as a local contact. But VITRONIC’s LIDAR-based transport technology was also convincing in terms of technology and product quality. No competitor was able to offer systems that measure over several lanes without roadside installations and have comparable acquisition rates and accuracy characteristics.
The confidence of customers in the Gulf region in LIDAR technology and VITRONIC as a reliable partner quickly led to success: in 2010, VITRONIC Machine Vision Middle East delivered the first stationary and mobile POLISCAN systems to Saudi Arabia. This was followed by major orders from Oman, Iraq, the Emirates of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, which made VITRONIC the market leader with more than 50% market share in the region.
With the POLISCAN systems, VITRONIC Machine Vision Middle East was also able to make a significant contribution to helping reduce the number of road casualties. By 2030 there will be no more road fatalities in the Emirates ("Vision Zero"). "VITRONIC will continue to support the authorities in achieving this goal and making road traffic in the region even safer," says El Hansali. "We are working closely with the local police organizations to develop the future of traffic monitoring.
