Fair HANNOVER MESSE – The World's Leading Trade Fair for Industry

HANNOVER MESSE, the world's leading industrial trade fair, will take place from 31 March to 4 April 2025 at the Hannover Exhibition Centre. Under the guiding theme of ‘Industrial Transformation’, companies will present pioneering technologies and solutions for industry.

The trade fair covers various exhibition areas, including Automation, Motion & Drives, Digital Ecosystems, Energy Solutions, Logistics, Engineered Parts & Solutions, Global Business & Markets and the Future Hub. The focus is on key topics such as Industry 4.0, CO2-neutral production, artificial intelligence, IT security and Logistics 4.0. In addition, an extensive conference and forum programme offers valuable insights and promotes the exchange between experts.

VITRONIC as part of the ‘MAD Urban’ research project

VITRONIC is delighted to be exhibiting at this year's stand of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) as part of the MAD Urban research project.

Under the motto ‘SHAPING THE FUTURE WITH TECHNOLOGY’, visitors will be presented with the wide range of funding opportunities offered by the BMWK, which are aimed at strengthening the innovative power of SMEs and industry.

The MAD Urban research project is part of the BMWK's presence at the trade fair. In addition to the consortium leader ‘German Aerospace Centre’ (DLR), VITRONIC will also be present and show a stereo sensor that is used in the research project to detect traffic objects.

MAD Urban: Automated driving with intelligent infrastructure

The MAD Urban project (‘Managed Automated Driving’) implements an innovative approach to vehicle automation: Instead of integrating automation functions in the vehicle, these are outsourced to the infrastructure, to edge and cloud systems. By continuously recording all objects using sensors on the infrastructure side, automated vehicles can be remotely controlled by appropriately equipped operating areas. This not only increases the economic efficiency of autonomous driving, but above all the safety of all road users.

The project will enter the test phase in Braunschweig in April: VITRONIC will install two innovative ITS columns with stereo sensors at Tostmannplatz, which will monitor the flow of traffic and guide automated vehicles safely through the junction area.

The aim of MAD Urban is to realise and demonstrate M.A.D. technology based on environment recognition using infrastructure-based sensor technology for the first time. Renowned partners from science and industry are working together on this project.
