Logistics operators are under pressure. As parcel volumes rise, staffing shortages persist, and data accuracy requirements increase. Manual workstations and fragmented processes slow down operations and create inconsistent freight data.

At MODEX 2026, VITRONIC introduces new automation solutions with future-proof data analytics to stabilize these critical process steps and support more efficient, transparent parcel handling.

New identification platform forms basis for future AI applications across all freight processes

On conveyors and sorters, operators often work with unstable read rates or complex hardware. This limits the deployment of automated identification

VITRONIC introduces the VICAM M‑Series to simplify these steps. The system uses a compact matrix‑camera design that integrates quickly, records barcodes and labels reliably, and supports routing, billing, and machine‑learning applications. It forms a technical base for later AI functions. The new camera platform has a resolution of 16 megapixels and is implemented to read 1D, 2D and multi codes on items.

Automation enables improved data quality and reduces manual bottlenecks at workstations

Manual workstations are still a major source of delays. Operators must lift, measure, scan, and enter data for every item, which is a time‑consuming process prone to errors.

VITRONIC responds to this with the announcement of VIPAC SMALLS powered by MetriXFreight. The system automatically detects items and captures dimensions, weight, barcode data, and digital photo proof. The system allows for hands-free operation with accuracy independent from the operator. It generates a consistent, validated dataset that supports routing, billing, and warehouse management systems.

The system covers the identification and handling of up to 750 per hour with an accuracy of 1mm.

Reliable data at the point of origin has become essential for downstream optimization, whether it’s routing, billing, or storage logic. Automating these steps and making data transparent helps operators establish that consistency from the very start of the process.

Supporting a more connected, end-to-end automation landscape

Beyond individual technologies, VITRONIC emphasizes that these launches reflect a broader shift from isolated systems to connected logistics processes. At MODEX, the company demonstrates how automated identification, measurement, and data intelligence work together across the parcel journey—from infeed to sorting—to provide more transparency and consistent operational data.

About VITRONIC

VITRONIC is the world's leading innovation driver for machine vision, enabling its customers to master the challenges of tomorrow.

The global group of companies develops forward-looking solutions in the form of specialized products and software for image-based quality inspection, identification and process optimization, which find application in the growth sectors of automation and traffic engineering.

VITRONIC solutions make an important contribution to helping shape a safe and sustainable world. The existing limits of what is economically feasible are constantly being questioned in order to achieve the highest quality and productivity, for example in the production of automotive and pharmaceutical companies. Worldwide, Auto-ID solutions in logistics centers and at cargo airports, take over the reliable and efficient recording of shipments and thus ensure a transparent flow of goods.

In the transport sector, VITRONIC offers leading technology for increased safety on the roads, for optimizing traffic flow and for recording road usage.

Open and honest dealings with our customers form the foundation for jointly exploiting technological and process potential to the full. Joint success forms the basis of long-term cooperation with companies such as B. Braun, BMW, Daimler, DHL, UPS, Fresenius and Sanofi as well as with public clients.

Since its foundation in 1984, VITRONIC has been growing continuously for 40 years. The current annual turnover (2024) is 260 million EUR and the company is currently represented on five continents in over 80 countries with approximately 1,400 employees. Since 2024 the company is part of ITIS Holding, leveraging the strengths of both entities, creating a strong end-to-end ITS and automation provider.

Development and production of VITRONIC systems are located at the company headquarters in Wiesbaden. VITRONIC subsidiaries span across all continents, including North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. Additionally, a global network of sales and service partners ensures localized support for international customers.
